In addition to the steamy attraction of Aksel and Aurora, there is also adorableness in this book. However, once they give in to their passion, their chemistry steams up the pages. It takes time though, because of Aksel’s past (and Aurora’s too actually) and his role as king and her employer. As Aurora becomes more and more a part of the lives of the princesses and Aksel, the chemistry between the king and the nanny ignites. The relationship between Aurora and Aksel is definitely a slow burn but that’s necessary to the story. Mostly because he’s fighting his attraction to Aurora and his guilt about his dead wife. While she quickly wins over the girls, it’s their gruff royal father, Aksel, that takes longer. Aurora is an Australian transplant to Europe who gets hired to be the nanny for two of Denmark’s motherless princesses. Especially when it’s the story of a Danish king falling for an Australian nanny! So reading romances about modern, fictitious, Scandinavian royal families is right up my alley.
